A
ABC Classification
Items are categorized by the relative value of their demand. The top 80% of items are classified as A, 15% as B, and 5% as C. Data stored by the buffer (Stratification).
Accessorial
A condition attached to a shipment that requires special handling and could incur additional cost.
Accuracy
Upon receipt of the Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN), the receiver is immediately informed of any difference between what was expected, and what has actually been shipped.
Accuracy and Order Forecast (AOF)
Calculations and reports that provide forecasts for orders and accuracy of supply based on historic demands.
Acknowledgment
An indicator that goods are received.
Address Comps
Adjusted Rank
A carrier ranking criteria that integrates a carrier's freight cost with their service ranking. The cost is adjusted up or down in reference to the service ranking to provide another mechanism for carrier ordering and selection.
Advanced Replenishment (AR)
A replenishment engine that reads demand forecast and produces order forecasts up to a horizon date. Optionally includes allocation.
Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN)
An ASN is a document providing details about a pending delivery. The ASN notifies the customer when shipping occurs, provides physical characteristics about the shipment, and helps the customer prepare to accept delivery. An ASN sent using an EDI or XML format, provides information about when an order ships, which items ship, how many of each item ships and the physical characteristics about the shipment such as the shipment's weight, the number of boxes, and a description of how the shipment units packaging. An ASN also tells the customer the transportation mode used for shipping and provides carrier details. The ASN enables the sender to describe the contents and configuration of a shipment in various levels of detail and provides an ordered flexibility to convey information.
Aggregation
The process of combining shipments with the same origin, pickup date, destination, and delivery date into one larger shipment.
Alert
A system-generated message that is triggered according to a certain order, shipment, delivery, or other milestones. For example, when a shipment enters the In-Transit state, the buyer gets an alert to prepare to receive the shipment.
Alert Populator
This process defines how the system generates alerts.
Allocated Available to Promise (AATP)
The projected amount of inventory that you have available to sell, not including allocated inventory.
Allocation
Conversion of an Order Forecast to an Order, dealing with material constraints such as the supply at the site from which the order is made (ship from site). Determines source site and site lane based on available supply, priority, etc. Order Forecasts that are allocated to Orders are Promised. Order Forecasts that cannot be allocated are Unpromised.
Allowance
See Freight Allowance.
Anticipation Stock
Building up extra stock for periods of increased demand; for example, ice cream for summer.
Application Programming Interface (API)
Computing interface that defines interactions between multiple software intermediaries. It defines the kinds of calls or requests that can be made, how to make them, the data formats that should be used, the conventions to follow, etc.
Apply Material Constraint
Order Forecast may be created as unpromised suggestions or may be created as real order forecasts that must be based on real inventory. Materially constrained, results in real order forecasts which must be based on real inventory.
Appointment
Specific date and time of the expected pick-up or delivery of goods. This can be pre-arranged by either the shipper or receiver and confirmed by the carrier.
Appointment Code
A user-definable value that will be used to match shipments with specific dock doors when scheduling appointments.
Appointment Scheduling
Provides the ability to search and make reservations for a specific time period and dock door at a location for a truck to deliver or pick up goods.
Approved Customer List (ACL)
A list of customers to whom you can sell an item.
Approved Vendor List (AVL)
For a CPG facility item, a list of vendors from which you can purchase the item.
Apply Material Constraint
Order Forecast may be created as unpromised suggestions or may be created as real order forecasts that must be based on real inventory. Materially constrained, results in real order forecasts which must be based on real inventory.
Artificial Intelligence
Intelligence demonstrated by machines, unlike the natural intelligence displayed by humans and animals, which involves consciousness and emotionality.
Attach Rate
An attach rate represents the number of an item or service sold as a direct consequence of selling another product or service. For example, if a vendor sells 300 phones, they would expect to sell some number of phone chargers as a result of the phone sales.
Attribute
Usually associated with items, attributes are defined, specific properties.
Audit History
Series of events that explain all actions taken in the system for a particular data entry.
Autobot
A deprecated ONE-specific term for Hyperbot. Use Hyperbot instead. See NEO Hyperbot definition.
Autonomous Forecasting (formerly known as CFM, Continuous Forecast Management)
A unique forecasting approach that analyzes historical data, such as customer withdrawal patterns, geographic inventory, and regional demographics. The tool picks the best predictive analytics model for the data and tunes the model as variables evolve.
Autonomous Replenishment
A system that leverages integrated demand forecasting, proportional inventory management, and automatic order generation to create automatic replenishment plans and orders.
Authorized Access Event (AAE)
Cyber security term.
Available Capacities
Specific carrier equipment capacities are made available to shippers with the goal of improving the carrier's asset utilization and providing the shipper with an improved rate over the standard direct rate.
Average Consumption
Can be used to replenish non-forecasted store buffers using a fixed static policy. Not needed for forecasted store buffers.
Average Netting
The average of net calculations. Netting parameters allow you to control the different sources of visible supply and demand when calculating net requirements.
Awaiting Tender
A shipment state indicating that a shipment that was entered by a shipper but requires further processing before it is tendered to the carrier.
